the worst blogger on the block

So I think I officially get some sort of award for the worst blogger.  However, when I started this blog, I knew I would not keep updating it as often as I should. But here I am now, so get excited! Caleb is officially on the move! He has learned to crawl and you know what that means. No rest for this mama! He wasted no time in finding things he shouldnt, like outlets and powercords. Thats my son! :) Caleb had his first head injury yesterday and I felt like the worst mom in the world.  He was just crawling along and all I hear is a loud thup followed by very very loud crying. Would it be acceptable to wrap him in bubble wrap? If we could all through through life in bubble wrap... :)

Countdown.. 5 months till 12!

Caleb is 7 months old. 7 months old! I know,  it sounds like a joke right? He now officially has more months behind him than ahead until his first birthday. He is really starting to move around alot. He finally decided to roll from his tummy to back outside of his crib. He does things in his crib like rolling and scooting from end to end which he wont do anywhere else. Good thing we have the video monitor or I would never get to see these things!

We took Caleb to his very first Cardinals game yesterday. He made it three innings and then fell asleep on the walk back to the car, which is something I have never seen happen, so I cant even imagine how tired the poor little guy was.

In other news, I officially have a cloth diaper addiction. I am constantly seeking new diapers on the internet. I have to stop, but Im not ready to. Yesterday at Cotton Babies I won a free diaper.. so that just fueled my craziness!

I havent blogged in a while so I thought I would update on the happenings around here. First off, cloth diapering is going great. I love doing it and can definitely deal with the little bit of extra work. We installed a "poop sprayer" aka bidet on the toilet, so no more fishing poop out of the sink!

P90X is going pretty well. I hate it as much as ever, but I am determined to finish it this time. I am on my 4th week, and only 8 more to go. I dont know if I have lost any weight, as I do not own a scale, but I feel better everyday that I do it.

Now on to the most important. CALEB! He is becoming very vocal lately. He does this scream/coughing thing all the time. He thinks its hilarious. I cannot wait for summer so we can go swimming. I think he is going to love the water because he loves playing in the bathtub and gets pretty angry sometimes when it is time to get out. He finally rolled over from his belly to his back, once. Otherwise he still think he is able to fly. Richard is so anxious for him to start crawling.. I am not as excited because once he is on the move it is going to get crazy around here!

Today Richard, Caleb and I went to the park. Caleb had a great time swinging and sliding, and I have to admit that I had fun swinging too. It has been years since I had been on a swing and it was a little scary going as high as I used to! It was such a great family day and I look forward to so many more.

Caleb has finally outgrown his baby car seat. He was pretty squished in there for about the past month, but I have been putting off getting him a bigger one. However, once we started cloth diapers, he was just not fitting in there anymore. Too much junk in his trunk :) He seems to really love all the room and he looks like such a little man in it.

Here's to you CLOTH DIAPERS!

Well my good friend Megan has got me hooked. Im addicted. Im in love with cloth diapers. At first I really liked the idea, but then I started thinking about how it would be to actually have to spray poop out of my son's diapers and decided that cloth diapering probably wasn't for us. I was wrong. A few months later I gave it a try and really like it, even after the horrible fail last night of Caleb waking completely soaked practically head to toe in pee. He was pretty unhappy to say the least, but I have a feeling that tonight will be much better because I am packing that thing with liners. I am sure we will have a few more CD fails, but I am more than willing to deal because 1.) How much money we will save eventually (there is a bit of an investment in the beginning) 2.) I can use these for all my kids and 3.) Caleb's chubby little legs couldn't look cuter sticking out of the colorful diapers.

6 month update

Caleb had his 6 month checkup today and 13 hours later, the verdict is in. He's a chunker! He weighs 19 lbs 10 oz (75th-90th percentile) and he is 27 and 5/8 inches long (90th percentile). He had to get 3 shots also, and he was very unhappy about it. He didnt start crying until the 2nd one, but then things got pretty crazy. The pediatrician said he could now eat Cherrios and other easily dissolvable foods, as well as most any other foods that are cut up really small.

Today my baby is half a year old! I cant believe in 6 short months we will be celebrating his 1 year birthday. He is really starting to develop his personality. He is such a happy little guy and he is always smiling. He is even beginning to get the hang of napping, which makes for a very happy mom and baby. I really enjoy the time I get to spend at home with him. I am really grateful that I am able to be a stay at home mom and see my little man grow and learn new things each day. He absolutely loves loves loves his jumperoo and will spend a half hour sometimes just jumping away.

In other news, I recently started P90X.. again. I know it will not be any easier this time, but at least I am prepared for how demanding it will be. I am incredibly sore from only 2 days, but it feels good. I hope to go longer than 2 months this time and actually complete the program. I will update for those interested!

Here are some recent pictures

Its about time!

I have really been slacking lately on the whole blog scene, which is crazy because so much has happened in the past few weeks. We moved the majority of everything into our new house on Saturday. With the help of some good friends it didn't take too long. We are finally getting settled in and unpacked for the most part. I was really apprehensive as well as excited to move because I wasn't sure if this new place was going to feel like home. Richard assured me it would, and it is really starting to. I will miss the little house that I brought my first child home to, but we are all looking forward to starting our lives here.

In other news, Caleb is doing great. He is a pro at sitting now and has only fallen over a few times this week. He is eating tons of new foods. A few weeks ago me and my friend Megan made baby food and it was surprisingly easy.

In a short 9 days, my baby is going to be 6 months! We have his 6 month pictures tomorrow and I'm really excited. I will post them soon, because who are we kidding, we will be buying at least one. They get you with the free session and then you see how cute your kid is and feel compelled to buy them.

She's French!

I bought Caleb this toy giraffe named Sophie. I got it off Amazon and apparently babies just love it. And he does! It is perfect for him to hold onto and use it while he is teething. Abbey was onto the toy before I even got it out of the package, and once she heard it squeak she hasnt left Caleb's side. She is just waiting for him to drop it. I am extremely excited over a rubber giraffe.... cant wait for Spring to get out of the house!

Look who's sitting!

For the past few weeks, Caleb has been well on his way to sitting up by himself. Well he has finally done it! He can sit up unsupported all by himself. He is still a bit unsteady but he gets better everyday. It must be really exciting for him as well. He gets to see the world from a whole new perspective and independent way. Right now, Richard is trying to teach Caleb to roll over from belly to back. He still looks like he is trying to swim :)

And what blog about Caleb would be complete without a video? Not this one!

5 months already?

Today my little man is 5 months! I can hardly believe that 5 months ago today I received the greatest gift one could ever ask for.

In other news, we closed on our new house yesterday. Cant wait until everything is finished and we can move in! I will miss our little home, but I am more than ready for more SPACE!!!

We bought a video monitor today, so Caleb can no longer hide from us. I always wondered what he does up there to get into some of the positions I find him in, so now the mystery will be solved. I dont have alot to say, so I will leave you with some 5 month pictures, as well as few of Caleb and Cecelia being adorable together

Ready to roll

Caleb has learned to roll over from his back to his tummy! He wont even stay on his back, but once he gets on his stomach you can tell he wants to roll back but doesnt quite have the hang of it yet. He is also sitting up without help very well now. He is not able to do it for a long time, but he definitely is well on his way.  He will be 5 months in 2 days... so there will be pictures to come. Until then, enjoy the video of my little man rolling over

Spring teaser

Today is so beautiful! We went to the park for the first time. I am pretty sure Caleb loved the swings because he sat in there swinging for a good 10 minutes. At times he looked like he might fall asleep. He is getting to be so big and doing big kid things so quickly. The last two months  have gone by too fast and so much has happened with Caleb. He grabs for absolutely everything now, curious about the world around him.

So far he has eaten rice, oatmeal, applesauce and peas. He seems to like peas pretty well. We finally bought him a highchair, and he loves it. He looks like such a little man in it :)

...and then there were 2

The offer we put on the house was accepted! It is actually a little scary, because now we essentially have two houses.... yikes. We are going to put our house on the market in early spring, and until then we are a 2 home family! The great part of this is that we dont have to move our junk right away, which is my kind of moving. Pictures to come!

Sunday, February 6, 2011

Caleb is getting his first tooth. Well actually his first 2 teeth! The two front bottom ones are slowly making an appearance. We have known it was coming, because for about the past month he practically needed a bucket under him to contain all the drool. I cant even imagine how cute my little man will be with 2 little teeth. He doesnt seem to be bothered much by it other than he is constantly wearing a wet shirt because of all the drool!

We find out tomorrow if the offer we made on the house is accepted. I hate waiting. I want to know everything this very instant... I am really looking forward to moving and finally having more space. Between the three of us, a Great Dane and a Dalmeagle, things were getting a bit crowded around here. It will also be nice to have our friends over and be able to offer everyone somewhere to sit! More updates to come.

SURPRISE!

Last night, when I changed Caleb around 3:30 am, I knew I definitely smelled poop. So I change his diaper, in the dark, as usual. I finish without finding any poop in his diaper. I zip him up, but I am still smelling it and starting to wonder where it was coming from. Eh, I thought... He didnt poop (so I was led to believe from the lack of poop in the diaper) so it must be from the diaper genie.... NOPE. When I get over to the chair to feed him, I feel this squishy lump on his back. The poop has apparently rolled right out of the diaper into his sleeper. By this time it was no longer nice and solid, but very squished all over everything. It was a huge mess. There is never a dull moment.. even at 3am

Ready for Spring

Caleb finally decide that we were not trying to poison him and he ate some rice! I think he accidentally swallowed some and figured it was some sort of food, even though it wasnt the yummy (yuck) formula he loves. The end result was a happy mom and dad and a very messy little boy.

On another topic, I, as always am still skeptical of how bad this storm will actually be. However, I did read the words historic and destructive on weather.com...yikes! Although I am secretly hoping it is all that we are promised! Hopefully Richard will be off work tomorrow and we can all be cozy and lazy together. We dont get to do that nearly enough :)

Someone should have told me how hard it would be!

I wish there was a way of knowing exactly what you are in for when you first have kids. I had all these visions of what it would be like, but never really knew. I knew there would be poop and crying... but never this much! Having Caleb has been the greatest thing to happen to our little family. He reminds me everyday how important it is to be patient, which is not always the easiest thing to do. So my better late than never New Years Resolution is to be less frustrated and more patient, especially with Caleb. He will only be little for an incredibly short time, and rather than looking back with regret at the times I was impatient and easily frustrated with him, I want to be able to look back and not regret a single moment. I want to enjoy every moment I am lucky enough to have with him and Richard.

Nap Battle.. Part 1

I think I have won today's battle of the nap! And after only 4 very unsuccessful tries.... I have a feeling that a lot of my blogging will center around Caleb's non-napping habits. I am more determined that ever to help him become a better day sleeper, because both baby and mommy need it!

On the road to solid food... with a side trip to no way I'm eating that

We attempted our first try at solids today. RICE! It was not very successful. In fact, everything that went in came right back out. I think Pete got more than Caleb on the first try! Caleb looked at us like we were crazy trying to feed this stuff to him. We are going to try again tomorrow, but this time I am going to make sure he is good and hungry!
Caleb went to the doctor today for his 4 month checkup. Our little chunker weighs 16 lbs 12.5 oz and is 26 and 3/4 inches long! He is in the 90th percentile for both! Poor guy got 2 shots, and after the first he looked absolutely shocked and started screaming. It was not fun for mom or baby, although the crying was much less than when trying to get him to take a nap.. go figure!

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Since I am little late in starting my blog, only by about 3 months.... that sounds like me, right? I thought I would post some pictures of older pictures of Caleb

4 MONTHS!

Caleb is 4 months old today! I cant believe how fast time is going. He is getting better and better everyday at rolling over from his tummy to his back. He doesnt quite have the hang of it the other way around, but I have a feeling it will happen soon. He is so active and happy (well most of the time). He is always smiling and he has just started to really laugh at things. Its the cutest laugh ever.. of course!

This is my first time blogging, but I can see this quickly becoming a shrine to Caleb :) More to come!
